Is Floating better than a Bath?
We all know that taking a bath helps you relax and unwind. And there are actually scientifically-proven health benefits from soaking in the tub, which include:
- increasing blood flow and making it more oxygenated
- reducing your levels of stress and anxiety
- cleansing your hair skin and eyes
- improving heart health
- optimising your core body temperature
- assisting lung capacity and oxygen intake
- benefiting your muscles, joints and bones
But another lesser known technique that also involves laying in hundreds of litres of water is that of floatation therapy.
Floating has similarities with a bath but is also very different. Firstly, you lay in a float tank, which is essentially a pod with a lid. So when you shut it, you are fully shut off from the external environment. Secondly, the water is filled with epsom salts so you are laying on top of the water.
The benefits of floating are actually very different to a bath, and are becoming a lot more recognised in health circles. For starters, floatation therapy makes you feel good and we all want that! Additionally, there are a range of other health benefits:
- Improves your sleep
- Reduces anxiety
- Pain Relief and injury recovery
- Magnesium absorption
- Relieves stress and helps stress-related illness
- Restores the health of your hair
- Treats Fibromyalgia
- Improves your skin
- Provides a detox from electronic devices
- Assists in overcoming addition
As you can see, there are several overlapping advantages of taking a bath and enjoying time in a floatation tank. However, the latter provides additional benefits for your health that make it a smart move to add it to your regular routine.
